Institut Avrio de Genève’s Doctorate in Health and Social Care program is an interdisciplinary research diploma. Admission Criteria
To enroll in the D.Phil/PhD program, the requirements are:
- Previous Study:
- For the 2-Year, Thesis-Based Program / 120 Credits: 4-Year Bachelor and 2-Year Master or equivalent (Recommended: 360 ETCS including Bachelor. However, depending on the CV, 300 ECTS might get accepted)
- For the 3-Year regular Program / 180 Credits: Bachelor and Master or equivalent (Recommended: 300 ETCS including Bachelor. However, depending on the CV, 240 ECTS might get accepted)
- Exceptionally: With an Individual evaluation, UCN university may accept those applicants who hold a 4-year bachelor’s with long experience in the managerial area
- Work Experience: It is preferable to have more than three years of practical managerial experience.
Age: 25 Years or more - English: IELTS 7, or equivalent. However, you do not need such a certificate if you are:
- From English-speaking countries, or
- A high school certificate holder from English-speaking schools, or
- A holder of a High School, Bachelor’s or Master’s diploma from an English-Speaking institution.
- Conditionally, a full-time employee of an English organization for the last 2 years. In this case, need to prove the duration and Job position and you will be asked to take our English Test.
- Selecting intake: Our program has been designed to give a chance to all students to start their studies when they are ready to take this step towards a better tomorrow. The applicants who would like to enroll in this program, have to select the intake they would enroll into. At Avrio Institute we do have 5 Main intakes per year, and there is a possibility to individually start with convincing reasons. In total we do have 10 intakes per year, they are as below:
- Main Intakes: They take place during the 1st Week of January, March, May, August, or October
- Individual intakes: They take place during the 1st Week of February, April, June, September, or November
- NOTE: December and July have no intakes because we do issue Diplomas in those months.

Top-Up /Transfer Credits:
Candidates who hold a Level 8 Business Diploma or equivalent, or those who have studied/are studying at any other educational institution, may transfer the credits they have earned to continue their studies at the institute from the thesis stage.
Duration:
For the dual award, the required duration to complete the program is two years. However, there is a possibility to reduce the duration based on the academic and practical background.
If the dual award is not applicable, the minimum required duration to finish the program after transferring credits, is one year.
The exact duration and credits to transfer can be determined after submitting the application for admission.
Awards and Awarding Bodies:
On completion of this course, students will graduate with the following certificates:
- D.Phil. in the specialization from Institut Avrio de Genève
- An official recognized PhD degree from UCN University. For more details about the University please click here.
- Optional:
- The applicants may not apply for the dual award to reduce the enrollment fee. In this case, they earn the Avrio Award only.
- The applicants may apply for the University Ph.D. Degree with Azteca University, which will reduce the fee as well.
- The candidates may apply for the triple award to obtain upon graduation Avrio, UCN, and Azteca’s Awards.
